678 The Noble Eightfold Path




The point has often been made that the Ten Commandments, supposedly the bedrock of Western (Christian) morality, are anything but moral ...

Anyway, there is a worthy alternative in a set of rules as to how we should live our lives ... it was taught by - and it predates - the Buddha, who said ...

1 right view


2 right aspiration


3 right speech


4 right action


5 right livelihood


6 right effort


7 right mindfulness


8 right concentration



... follow that path."



Once seen in conjunction with that other ancient law, the Golden Rule (do to others as you want done to yourself) I think there probably is no better advice available.
