317 Mac Rumours: iPhone 6

A visit to iPhone 6  rumour land  confirms the iPhone 6 will have a 5in screen and this “will lead to a big replacement cycle that may poach customers of Samsung.” MacRumors  goes further, suggesting Apple will release two new phones this year ... a 4.7in and a 5.5in one. Such phones “could spark a massive upgrade cycle”.

“‘Large-screen envy’ is prevalent among the iPhone installed base and we believe a ~5in form-factor iPhone would spark a massive upgrade cycle as well as many ‘Android switchers’ returning back to the iPhone (we refer to this as the ‘mother lode’ of all Apple upgrade cycles).

"Yep, a fraction of an inch will be enough to entice the hordes to toss away their old Galaxies etc. like yesterday’s newspapers and descend on Apple stores in their millions. Stand back, or get mown down in the rush. Don’t say you weren’t warned."

But here’s me wondering, a large screen - yes, way overdue. But what about the camera? I've  blogged  about Apple's conundrum as regards its inferior camera, in comparison (not to “real” cameras) but other smartphone cameras (Nokia, Galaxy).

Would I switch brands for a larger screen? Nope. Would I switch brands for a better camera in a phone? Nope. Would I switch brands for a better camera in a larger phone? Hmmm, quite possibly ... I've looked!

I haven’t upgraded my old, original iPhone 4 (nearly four years old now). Wasn’t interested in any iPhone 5 version. Would I buy a new iPhone with a larger screen? Nope. Would I buy a new iPhone with a better camera? Nope. Would I buy a new iPhone with a better camera in a larger phone? In a flash ... bring it on; because then I will be working with my new iPhone.

These days I only make calls with it, and use the camera occasionally. I hardly use the internet on it (except for maps). But I don’t have an iPad and I don’t want one … the iPhone 6 with a 5.5 inch screen and a better camera will be great (mooted for Sept. / Oct. 2014).

However, one day from Apple, a camera / phone with ... a zoom lens ... and even a viewfinder? OMG! That would be awesome.
