877 Sogyal Rinpoche

Do you have a list of your five favourite books? Mine goe like this (there are two lists, and they are in no particular order):

Spirituality:

Siddharta - by Herman Hesse

Freedome from the Known - by Jiddu Krishnamurti

An Introduction to Zen Buddhism - by D.T. Suzuki

The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying - by Sogyal Rinpoche

The Book of Atheist Spirituality - by André Compte-Sponville

Science:

Cosmos - by Carl Sagan

God and the New Physics, The Big Questions etc - by Paul Davies

A Brief History of Time - by Stephen Hawking

A Universe From Nothing - by Lawrence M. Krauss

The Self-Aware Universe - by Amit Goswami

There are approximately another twenty books I list as having been important to me (here’s the  complete list … again, in no particular order).

The author of one of the books is in the news (well, has been for about twenty years) for all the wrong reasons:  Sogyal Rinpoche  is accused  of having sexually and violently abused followers for all that time.

I only became aware of this sad state of affairs this weekend (SMH), but a quick Google search confirms just how long this has been going on. How remarkable ... there is a Buddhist teacher among the Weinsteins, Spaceys, Trumps of the world!

I have an essay INTIMACY in my book en.light.en.ment
